Gaim=>Pidgin
Gaim=>Pidgin
Gaim, following a secret legal battle with AOL, has been forced to change its name. I personally think its dumb that since Gaim is an instant messaging program and has "aim" in it, it has to change its name.

Very interesting. They really did a good job keeping this long running battle with AOL secret. I really like their new domain for their new website www.pidgin.im
lol, the website it has a "what is giam" page, that doesnt seem to know that the name of the project has changed.
so it was called "Giam" for a long time happily then aol trademarked "aim", how does that make "Gaim" in the wrong, didnt they have the name first, or should they have regestered the name"Giam".

Every cloud has a silver lining, except for the mushroom shaped ones, which have a lining of Strontium 90.

Are you sure there is no such thing as intellectual property?dmn_clown wrote: There is no such thing as "intellectual property" it is a misnomer dreamed up by a lawyer trying to justify the idiocy of software patents.

What you or I think about IP is irrelevant. It does exist and it isn't going away.dmn_clown wrote:Yes, there is no such thing as intellectual property. Copyright and trade marks do not need a blanket term.mzilikazi wrote:Are you sure there is no such thing as intellectual property?
Unless of course you feel that you can own an idea and charge people for it.
