Installing GIMP 2.10.2
Installing GIMP 2.10.2
Anyone figured out how to get GIMP 2.10.2 installed. I'm not a pro coder. I haven't been able to find instructions for installing on Debian 9

You need to install flatpak, and then flatpak will do the rest for you:
Code: Select all
flatpak install https://flathub.org/repo/appstream/org.gimp.GIMP.flatpakref

Re: Installing GIMP 2.10.2
It's also been backported to the Stretch-based MX Linux test repo...though it required backports of libglib2.0, fontconfig, and freetype, so far those have been working fine.

Re: Installing GIMP 2.10.2
In case anyone is interested, I have the new 2.10.4 release built for Stretch in an independent OBS repository:
https://build.opensuse.org/project/show ... -backports
There are some reports that the newer Freetype packages it brings in won't render old fonts like Dejavu fonts very well, though that should also be seen in Buster. The solution is to use better fonts like Noto.

Re: Installing GIMP 2.10.2
Now replacing the 2.10.6 GIMP with the new 2.10.8 release. Keep an eye here to see when the builds finish:
https://build.opensuse.org/package/show ... ports/gimp
Though I'll probably upload a tweaked version tomorrow so the Buster build doesn't get confused with choices.

Re: Installing GIMP 2.10.2
Uploaded gimp sources with some tweaks to the build-depends for libgegl-dev and gimp to let it also build on Debian testing and Ubuntu 18.04. Ubuntu 18.10's build platform seems to have a bug on the OBS and can't install libwebp packages, even though they are in the main 18.10 repo. Even rebuilding libwebp in my repo doesn't make it visible to 18.10...https://build.opensuse.org/package/show ... ports/gimp
