cold, dank, unknown waters tend to scare me, as does dark unknown warm water. I like the water i can see through and have less fear if I can enter the water for more than a few seconds and still survive. I'm faily certain I would be less afraid if I had the sailors survial guides
Overall, very spectacular! pictures of both famliy and landscapes, imho .

I learned how to swim in the middle of the Atlantic Ocean, so water does not really bother me

my grandfather started teaaching me how to swim in the backyard at age 2. by the time I was 4 I could keep myself above water for a few mintues, except the time I fell off the boat. But, I think that event scared my family who were watching me, more than it scared me.

where i am swimming is taught from about 3/4 y/o. and then again at school

with our beaches its pretty important - and even then people still get pulled from the water by lifesavers

I remember crusing up the Hudson River 1965 to the Worlds Fair Flushing,NY in a 25' "possibly similar to Direction" except power as oppossed to sail.
Way to much floatsam and jetsam filtering by to be comfortable in my skin. Just the thought of getting dunked into that was enough to make me hopeful of reaching our moorings "soon"! l :D

My computer doesn't run, it usually just sits there

For uptime, however, it is a desktop / development workstation with Etch installed upon it and is off when not being used to save on the power bill.

Really, an 11 year necro?

Anyway, for me it's hardly anything. Anything over 8 hours is rare and anything over 14 is exceptional on my Debian box. I don't think my desktop has ever been on for more than 24 hours.

I haven't posted in this thread since 2007, oh my, why did it come back to life... Speaking of uptime, this thread is winning.

Debian, boot and shutdown when used.

Slackware, I have a box that has run for several years and only reboot for kernel upgrades.

PS: OMG I can't believe I fell for a necropost....

For the sake of Necro... I'm wondering what i was doing 11 years ago, and how much i could have been Uptime at the time, and which the system i was using?

Now i recall!
Surely, playing Super Marios Bros EMU with a friend. Always promptly who finishes faster :)

I almost always suspend to RAM. Usually only reboot after kernel upgrades.

One of my laptops has 187 days of uptime, the other only has 11 since I had to shut it down to install a bluetooth module. My desktop was around 300 days before I moved a couple weeks ago.... Rebooting is a waste of time :)

This poor thing has been to hell and back tracked - unlike that Live lenny CD talked about in the OP
