Monthly screenshots?

#1 Post by regeya »

I don't know that there would be any interest here, but on the official Gentoo forums, one thing that's done regularly is a monthly screenshot collection. Any interest? Well, even if there's not, here's mine:

click thumbnail for fullsize image

Pretty pedestrian stuff: KDE 3.3, default Crystal icons, QtCurve icon theme, custom colorscheme.

I'd suggest a couple of rules, if there is any interest: deleting "nice BG; link?" and "OMFG Nice!" posts (Gentoo's forums has about 10 of these per 1 screenshot) and, please, if you must use an img tag, make the img link to a thumbnail. :D
But let us not rail about justice as long as we have arms and the freedom to use them.

In Gnome, default install: 'Actions', 'Make Screenshot'.

I assume KDE has a similar easy interface, otherwise, I guess google can help you easily on this?

Install imagemagick, then you can do:

Ah, well. At least some people have learned what apps they need to use to make screenshots. :D

After years of gnome, I installed ion2 today, and I must say: I like it. You won't loose any windows anymore!

the mgm system montitoring is what I installed now that I miss my nice gnome applets, but I'm not yet very happy with it. Unfortunately, the gnome applets don't work in ion. Also too bad of the easy calender that is easily accessible from gnome too.

The greatest obstacle while discovering the shape of the earth, the oceans and the continents was not ignorence, but the illusion of knowledge.

Been using Window Maker for a week now, and I think I'll stick with it... Lightning fast, feels just great...
