Code: Select all
$ vrms
No non-free or contrib packages installed on debian! rms would be proud.

Nice website advertising Ubuntu but I look forward to seeing site about Debian.
Not a website, but a blog : http://debian-bits-and-snips.blogspot.com/I'm working on a Debian site as well
Why being embarresed about Ubuntu?? I think many linux users today made their first steps with Ubuntu since it's much more user friendly then Debian.eric1959 wrote:Have used Ubuntu in the past

I still haven't figured out how to use ubuntu....never can get it to do crap I want....or at least not do crap I dont want....The learning curve is less steep.
And then, there's the lameness factor. (that's the OMG, lol)MeanDean wrote:its like driving a 4cylinder turbo mustang and thinking it is awesome and has a lot of power....and then driving a real mustang with a V8 and realizing your folly...nomko wrote:Why being embarresed about Ubuntu??

What i have learned about computers:edbarx wrote:I moved to Debian from knoppix. I tried Ubuntu for, maybe, a couple of desolate hours... but, mysteriously, user programs started crashing on me reminding me of Windows 95/98/2000ME blue screen of death! Moreover, I hate things being done for me, especially, if they are done the way I don't want them to be. Ubuntu has too much of that dose.
So basically what you're saying is that one OS can't be better or worse than any other OS?nomko wrote:What i have learned about computers:
It is not the computer makes mistakes, it's the user who works with the computer that makes mistakes!
If you can't work with Ubuntu, it's not the fault of Ubuntu but your own fault. Not understanding Ubuntu and not willing to learn Ubuntu and do things which can't be done with Ubuntu are the faults of the users. A computer does nothing without a user who gives the command's.
No, basically i say is that 99,9% of everything what goes wrong is the fault of the user. that 0.1% is de OS and it doesn't matter which OS it is. Computers are stupid machines which can't do nothing on their own, they need human input. Even een programmable logic controller neds human input otherwise it's just a piece of worthless plastic and wires.mojoman wrote:So basically what you're saying is that one OS can't be better or worse than any other OS?nomko wrote:What i have learned about computers:

I did a Google search for blaim , Google asked nicely Did you mean: blame , so if unsure about correct spelling trust Google or use : http://nicetranslator.com/......NOT the OS to blaim, but the user.
So if you have problems with debian wouldn't that mean......uh......well......uh.......nomko wrote: If someone has problems with Ubuntu (or any other OS) it's NOT the OS to blaim, but the user.
