^ Looking good Garry
I've changed to light terminal colours to match the GTK & Openbox theme in use:

Is that "Bunsen Labs"..your own "distro.? looks good though,
here is my Minix3 ,....not very fancy,...but working . (on a VM)
Still don't have a "extra" computer , to try it on real hardware.
And this is with the calculater opened,...it works good.

YesGarryRicketson wrote:Is that "Bunsen Labs"
That's a grab of the console (TTY) screen, there is no X server running -- tmux is acting as a window manager, splitting the screen into (in this case) four "panes", elinks is running in the right-side pane, the irssi IRC client is top left with good ol' screenfetch and a colour test script in two the lower left windows.
Ah, no, not really -- I help out here & there wherever I can but all of the "heavy lifting" is done by far more talented and skilled people than myself.your own "distro.?
I'm sure this will come as a relief to any BunsenLabs users
Thanks!looks good though
I like your Minix too, I will have to try that again soon.
EDIT: the custom TTY colours set using https://forums.bunsenlabs.org/viewtopic ... 507#p42507

Even though this thread is intended for screen shots, (mostly),..
just a comment, most of the packages on Minx are actually coming from
"netbsd" repos,... ofetn they do not work, but need to be re-compiled
or "ported",..Many do work though.

Very nice. My next install may very well be Openbox instead of Xfce. So far I've used it only in VMs.Segfault wrote:Bare OpenBox, tint2 for taskbar, wbar for most used applications, conky reporting what's going on, feh for background image.
I have not heard of wbar or feh, but will check them out. I'm not using any kind of bar, and am using Nitrogen for the wallpaper.

Before , when I was doing this kind of thing , I kept getting "freezes",
but now it is working better.
Any way, at least it does not lockup any more when using the browser,
"links",...I have "Dillo", as well , but not yet working, Posted using
the same , Minix3

Re: What does your non-Debian desktop look like?
Kodi in Devuan Xfce, psst, it's in the backports. It would be wise to do like I do, enable backports-->refresh, get what you want (ignore the new found updates), then disable backports again-->refresh. This has been a public service announcement for the n00byish among us, lol.
FYI, the PCLinuxOS team have completely borked their gtk desktops, updates borked my very long time MATE install (I'm very cheesed about this, enough to keep Cheetos orange for a very long time), I did a bare metal install of their community Xfce 'mini' 2016.07 to prove this, then immediately did the updates (stock install, absolutely nothing changed or other packages installed yet) like they suggest, icon colours and window manager title bar colours get distorted, by that I mean a reddish hue. It's not as bad as it was, for a while in my old MATE install, image and video files were opening with a dark blue tinge, now at least images look normal again in the Xfce install, but the red icons and window borders still exist. I had the same MATE install for several years, it was the updates that broke it. You can rule out my machine, good ol' trusty Devaun Xfce looks and works great. My instincts tell me the Gnome systemd cabal are borking code and it's not being thoroughly vetted and properly ported for backwards gtk2 compatibility. Much to my chagrin, some apps like Catfish and Gedit have now taken on the Gnome 3 look (and their stupid overly simplistic menus) in MATE and Xfce, this is forcing Gnome 3 code in a native gtk2 environment, do the math.
One more tip, I backed up my PCLOS home folder on my storage drive, then I deleted the new folders/files in the Devuan Kodi folder (/home/<user>/.kodi/), copied the backed up PCLOS Kodi folders/files and voila, Kodi in Devuan opened like there was never a crash or switch-over. Why am I telling you this? Because a stunt like that doesn't always work, and when it does, it thrills me to death.
Edit: HA! I was right, tried another install of PCLinuxOS Xfce 'mini' 2016.07, but this time I pinned gnome-themes-standard (3.x, take note of the version) and the adwaita icon theme (which I despise) BEFORE doing the bare bones install updates, sure enough, it totally trashed the install, which means even in Xfce, Gnome 3 is forced on you and bastardizes your Xfce install. Now I know what KILLED my MATE install. F*** you Gnome cabal, I will NEVER like or use your garbage. Have a nice life PCLinuxOS, you're no longer relevant.

Re: What does your non-Debian desktop look like?
New development, PCLOS fixed their gtk icon and window manager colour distortion problem (I was right, it was LLVM related), kinda late, already installed Xfce over my MATE install. I have nothing pinned anymore, on purpose, just to see what happens. I'm keeping and eye on you, Gnome cabal. 8☚-->☛8

I'm only posting the wallpaper (click the thumbnail) in case somebody else might want it too, no sense in posting a busy/messy desktop using the same wallpaper. OS is the same, wallpaper is not. I love those horns, they're so cute, I wish they were optional on human females.
