Photo editing software ('red eye' removal)

#1 Post by Lavene »

Can anyone recomend a program that can automatically fix red eyes in photos? Preferable a debian package although building from source is no problem either...

Thanks

Hi Tina, I don't know about a specific debian package for photo 'red-eye removal', but you can apt-get install gimp. Since I have been using Adobe Photoshop 7 extensively, I thought that I would have lose their functionality but using GIMP has been near flawless for me.

GIMP does not have the same kind of functionality as Photoshop especially wrt 'red eyes' removal, you can use it to remove 'red eyes' though.

See this link for the tutorial, GIMP red-eyes removal.

An excellent GIMP tutorial:
Grokking the GIMP.
