Happy 13th Birthday Debian!!

#1 Post by Mr_Goth »

Today Debian turns 13th!! Congratulations!!! May all of you have a terrific Debian birthday today! And lets not forget to thank Ian Murdock for creating a Debian!!!

Debian Weekly News - August 15th, 2006

"Debian turns 13. On August 16th, 1993 Ian Murdock [13]announced a new
type of distribution and listed the goals he wanted to achieve. 13
years later the Debian community will [14]celebrate this birthday
around the world. A lot has happened since Ian's first mail: The
project is lead by its ninth leader and more than a thousand
developers are registered to work voluntarily on one of the largest
distributions of Free Software."

Go Debian! I've used it for maybe 2 or 3 years now and it's the best distro out there for serious work with the best framework for development - look at all the Debian-based derivatives that are now springing up (Ubuntu comes to mind) :)
