Where I used to work, all the computers were islands in the south pacific, I had kauai, but I remeber fiji, oahu, and iona (don't remember the others). Where I currently work the computers are named after greek/roman mythology. At home I'm not creative, my computer name is my name and my wife's is her name, and my laptop is "laptop".

I started giving them computer related names but now I'm going the more personal route:

deskpro - old Pentium I for testing and burning CD's
vaio - the kitchen's web browsing platform
pentpro - Intranet server, Pentium Pro chip
giga - file server, web development platform
hcg - my laptop
jag - daughter's laptop

Other IP's assigned:

gateway - Linksys WRT54G Wireless router
mb - Linksys WMB54G Wireless-G Music Bridge
Bert Garcia - When all you have is a keyboard

I name my computers after stars /star constellations.

Aldebaran is my main machine.

I have to other machines, one is a test box and the other is a server. These are 'sirius' and 'procyon' after the major/minor stars in that particular constellation
