Here is mine. Quite plain but performance is very good - with nautilus, Gnome and ... well most of the default debian configuration RAM usage is 150/1024MB without swap. I had some very nice GTK themes that blended with my wallpapers but for some reason I cannot find them so I'm stuck with those ugly ones
What are those transparent windows? I see a chat client - how do you make it use a terminal?
Debian Lenny "stable"
The transparent windows are just terminals which had their backgrounds set to transparent. I used a program called alltray to remove their borders (no doubt there's an easier and better way of doing that). I have finch (IM) in one of the terminals and irssi (IRC) in the other one. The one under conky is just a normal terminal. Finch and irssi are designed to use the terminal, so it didn't take much doing to get them running in one. :-)KOTAPAKA wrote:What are those transparent windows? Of course there's the question of 'why use terminal clients', but that's a whole issue of its own. Simply put: I like the aesthetics and find them basically as easy to use.

Dude, you are lazy: you don't even have a fancy-pants, bad-ass prompt to show that you are a true hax0r. I'm not sure whether to be disappointed or impressed. I got tired of the black background, so now I'm using the (default) Gnome desktop wallpaper, but this is Openbox, Conky, Ipager, Perlpanel and Rxvt.
updated a bit..

So do I! Trying to migrate as many things as possible to console lately...Arrakiv wrote:Simply put: I like the aesthetics and find them basically as easy to use.
Your shot is very nice! I have the same wallpaper somewhere. What is your GTK theme?

My Sidux installation, running fluxbox.
GTK theme: aud-Default
Fluxbox theme: antiX
Conky config: by anticapitalista, with minor changes
Background: something i found on deviant art
Terminal: urxvt
I have two semi-transparent urxvts running, each with a separate screen session, and the one on the right is a screen session tunneling through ssh with my desktop. I use dmenu for my run box.
I've tried openbox. In fact, I made themes for it that are in the debian pkg for openbox-themes. Openbox is alright but I still prefer fluxbox.Bulkley wrote:I did for many years, but last year I switched to Openbox.
