There is no both option...

I used Etch on all my desktops and Sarge on all my servers.

Yesterday I set Etch up on an old P2 as a server. Working really well, except for getting Samba to work properly.

So now, I use it for both.

I think lots of people will start using Etch as a Desktop once it's released, including many of those who have only used Ubuntu up to now. Debian is a great distro for a server, but etch is also a great desktop distro as well.

primarily a desktop, but i have sort of a mock up server that usually functions as a file server and jukebox on the home network or for when i like to play with web dev stuff.
My computer experience was mostly with Macs and Adobe and Macromedia from getting my art and advertising degree about a decade ago. Now its all Gimp, Scribus, Inkscape and Bluefish these days if it has to do with using a computer. Now I just enjoy doing it in my free time for local companies so I can avoid the stress and make my own deadlines.

Why cant I mark both?
I have two debian servers and one debian desktop...
Ok, I voted fo desktop, because I played with it recently, and servers are working without my interference (about OS-related things) for 1.5 years already...

I would have liked to have the possibility to vote for both. "Hopefully" I cannot vote at all :) .

In fact, I'm a debian addict and have used it since Woody for my desktop (I have to admit that I had dual boot in the early times), and set up two servers using sarge since its release. I also have etch on my laptop.

I've only been using it for about two months now, but I'm falling in love with it. Apt is an amazing system, I used it back on Ubuntu but something about Debian just feels more right.

I use it as a home/work computer, it's a laptop so it really does both. I do use it as a server, but it's a low maintenance server just for testing my PHP scripts/sharing pictures.

I run both, too, but more of a Desktop. I think if you play full 3D accelerated games on your system, you should choose Desktop. ;) The only "servers" I have running are for the http, ftp, and ssh protocols. Therefor, I chose Desktop.

I use Debian for my desktop, but I am planning to build a server, maybe with Debian or FreeBSD.
