Ok I don't feel a noob_But I also don't feel an expert either
I installed successfully Debian-Base Stretch with Openbox
Tint2 (and the works) on my eeepc701 4g
I also installed VLC
But the videos are out of sync
They are loading pretty slow
I also noticed glitches on my system
(I know it's outdated)
The things I wanna do with my eeepc
are pretty basic
Is there a way to make videos work better
and a way to make Stretch a little smoother
Everything is installed on a uhcd SD 32G with 2G Ram
And 2G swap on the card
The ssd (4G) is whipped clean
Thanks in advance

Re: Hi from the new guy
For those who are going to read this post...
I never installed the Intel Graphics drivers
dunno which driver works best for my 701
And also reading other posts and forums
I stumbled upon "CpuFreq" for the CPU scaling
Any ideas???

Re: Hi from the new guy
Debian installs the Intel graphics drivers by default, so don't worry about that. What sort of videos are you trying to play in VLC? I mean stuff like resolution and codec.
If you don't know how to get those, you can also start vlc from a terminal and copypaste the output from when you play a problem video into a code box here.

Re: Hi from the new guy
I have a 900 series EeePC, so the hardware should not be that different. I don't think there is much else you can do about the Intel driver. It works like it should. I have found VLC too heavy for my own EeePC. I have TDE (KDE3 fork) and Kmplayer installed on it, and It works well, but really can't play full HD videos. I am barely able to play some 720p videos. Low resoulution videos are no problem.

Re: Hi from the new guy
I downloaded from YouTube
Using youtube-dl
I believe it is 720p mkv
Didn't know there was Kmplayer port for Debian
And also I didn't converted it during download (to mp4)
I'm @ work right now
So I get back to you in a couple of hours

Re: Hi from the new guy
What do you mean by "out of sync?" We have found subtitles to be wildly out of sync with subtitles. There is an adjustment for that. There may be other adjustments for sound; I'm not sure.

Don't worry about that
I fixed it and thank you anyway

For any Admin that is going to read this
Cpufreq &
Laptop-mode from Qt does a great "stability" job
on my Asus eeepc 701 4g
It is not faster
But the system glitches Are gone
