Terminal questions. rxvt-unicode?

#1 Post by connorelsea »

I just have a few questions about the terminal in Linux in general.

Firstly, what is the difference between a Terminal and a Terminal Emulator?

Secondly, unlike when I installed Terminator, when I installed rxvt-unicode, it did not show up somewhere standalone like the XFCE Terminal, XTerm, and Terminator do in the XFCE menu. I can launch it through another terminal, but that kind of defeats the point... How do I make this my standalone terminal. I enjoy the customization available that I've seen with other people using it and would like to use it as my terminal.

Terminal is hardware. Terminal emulator is a software package.

It looks like ArchWiki has a great resource for configuring and using rxvt-unicode.
