no sound

Hello,

I just did my first debian install and everything went fine. I managed to install flash and few other stuff but i can't seem to get sound.

My pc is connected to a tv which has speakers via a hdmi cable but it doesn't produce sound in debian.

I installed the nvidia drivers for my geforce gt 620 and the audio still doesn't work (from https://wiki.debian.org/NvidiaGraphicsDrivers).

I tried to switch the audio output from hdmi to the built-in audio ship of my motherboard but it doesnt even appear in the audio output list, there's only the nvidia hdmi output, and doesn't produce sound either as i tried to plug a jack in each output to test.

So i'm kinda lost i tried a few stuff i found on google but itdidnt work.

The motherboard is a Asus P5K Pro.

Open alsamixer and unmute the channels and raise the volumes.

I did that and still nothing. Also tried to create a asound.conf file.

I don't know much about PulseAudio though if you have that. I don't use it.

I added an old Sound Blaster PCI soundcard to test and it worked fine without tweaking anything.
