Jessie
Re: Jessie Sound Problems
One thing that comes to mind is:
Jessie's pulseaudio has an annoying bug.
If you mute the sound with the mute button, or by any other means, then the sound gets muted.
Works as expected, at least until the time you want to unmute the sound. Which is something it wont do.
Even rebooting wont get the sound back !
Quite annoying and quite incredible that it has not been fixed. (it is a really old bug. Volumecontrol mutes both alsa and pulseaudio, but when you unmute only alsa gets unmuted)
however there is a way to get it unmuted, type in terminal
that command mutes/unmutes the sound
This could be your problem. Or not. Personally I "solved" this on my machine by removing pulseaudio and using alsa.
Few links googled quickly

Re: Jessie Sound Problems [SOLVED]
Kudos to you for not being lazy and keep searching not only by using google but the debian irc channel too, that was very smart. Talking about irc, a little time ago someone on the mpv player irc channel helped me to solve a subtitle issue I was having with mpv player, so thanks to anybody who uses irc node and try to help others.afcs1 wrote:Eternal gratitude to ec0 from #debian on irc.freenode.net for helping me solve this ...
