BackInTime: Client failed to connect to the D-BUS daemon

Postby Polly » 2016-05-13 19:12

I use BackInTime to make backups to a local USB drive. BackInTime never ran as my normal user but I just ignored this because it worked fine as root.

Now, after a recent update I suspect, when I run "BackInTime (root)" from the application icon I get the GUI without any snapshots and the error:

Code: Select all
(app.py:2834): GConf-WARNING **: Client failed to connect to the D-BUS daemon:
Did not receive a reply. Possible causes include: the remote application did not send a reply, the message bus security policy blocked the reply, the reply timeout expired, or the network connection was broken.
GConf Error: No D-BUS daemon running

Debian GNU/Linux 8 (jessie) 32-bit
Gnome Version 3.14.1

I have found answers related to the error but they all seem to give solutions to specific scenarios mostly Ubuntu. Any suggestions appreciated. Thanks.
