<Solved> testing GNOME -Ctrl+C fails first time, every time?

Postby Chiefahol2 » 2017-03-09 06:00

Hi

Running updated Debian testing. Noticing whenever i press Ctrl+C it fails to copy, i move over to another file directory and try to Ctrl+V and nothing comes out. :|

If this a known bug? Is anyone else experiencing a failure to simply copy files on Debian testing GNOME?

Happens with Ctrl-V every time as well. Like something is auto-emptying my clipboard. :?

You are not "running Debian 9".

If it is a known bug, then there is a bug report. If there is no report, then it is not a "known bug".

They mean that what you have is a testing version of the next Debian. There is no "Debian 9" until it's fully cooked and released.
The MX Linux repositories: Backports galore! If we don't have something, just ask and we'll try--we like challenges. New packages: AzPainter 2.0.6, Pale Moon 27.4.1, Liquorix kernel 4.11-9, mpv 0.26.0, Kodi 17.3, 0ad 0.0.22, Mesa 13.0.6

Debian 9 has not been released, yet , so what you really are using
is Debian testing.

If you look here, you will see there is no Debian 9 yet

Yes there are a lot of people confused, and misinformed, they all ways
help spread myths, but never do any real research, or read any documentation.

Is anyone else experiencing a failure to simply copy files on Debian 9 GNOME?

This is pretty vague. What desktop are you using? Gnome? What program are you copying from and to? Nautilus?
I'm not experiencing any problems of this kind with Nautilus in Gnome. Or any other program. I'm also running Debian Stretch (soon to be version 9 when released).

Yes GNOME and Nautilus. It happens like this:

1) I click a file once to select it.
2) I press Ctrl+C.
3) Navigate to the new section in Nautilus.
4) I press Ctrl+V, nothing happens.
5) I go back and try again, it for some reason works on the second try. :P

What happens if you use Ctrl-C to copy and then right click and select Paste?

I'm guessing then, if you right click and select Copy, you still can't Paste first time. I just want to be clear it's not the keyboard shortcut, or your keyboard.

Does it happen with any other Gnome specific programs? Or is it just Nautilus?

Just Nautilus, it's the same with Ctrl+C and click to copy.

you could file a bug report.

Definitely, i just don't know how to quantify this error or reproduce it, i feel like if i reinstalled Debian testing it would vanish forever, nobody else has noticed anything similar.
