Foxit reader in Stretch?
Foxit reader in Stretch?
Has anyone used Foxit in Stretch? I'm considering upgrading and it's the very best software I've come across so far for PDF annotations. It's not in the Jessie repos but works solidly on it.
Re: Foxit reader in Stretch?
are you implying it is going to be in debian 9 repos?
i highly doubt it. can't find the source code anywhere. i think it's closed source, freemiumware.
personally, i never understand people's fascination with pdf. i would never choose it as a document format, and for reading i'm quite happy with linux native existing solutions.
editing - should i ever need that - can be done via libreoffice.

How does it compare to the Linux version of Master PDF Editor?

No. Just if it would work OK and not break anything.debiman wrote:are you implying it is going to be in debian 9 repos?
Unfortunately the academic community relies, to a large extent, on the PDF format. Especially for distributing photocopies.debiman wrote:personally, i never understand people's fascination with pdf.
I haven't tried it - does it work OK in Debian? Their site says Cent/Ubuntu. I'm not sure that every piece of software that works on Ubuntu works on Debian?stevepusser wrote:How does it compare to the Linux version of Master PDF Editor?

Re: Foxit reader in Stretch?
It works great in Jessie; I leave it to you to test it in Stretch. Use gdebi to make installing the deb easier.

Installed and it works great in D9. The best alternative I've found to Adobe. There was another decent one, I can't remember the name now, but I think it was qpdfview.stevepusser wrote:It works great in Jessie; I leave it to you to test it in Stretch. Use gdebi to make installing the deb easier.
