I installed debian from network install cd but it said it couldnt find suitable kernel. How can I install kernel myself?
I learned that I should
Code: Select all
apt-get install linux-image linux-image-amd64
Anything else that I should install?
Code: Select all
apt-get install linux-image linux-image-amd64
Code: Select all
$ uname --kernel-release
Code: Select all
$ vrms
No non-free or contrib packages installed on debian! rms would be proud.
======= Note, this just scrapes the surface, the OP needs to read all of the availablefrom:https://wiki.debian.org/HowToUpgradeKernel To install a kernel image, you first have to decide which one you want to use. Start with
Code: Select all
apt-cache search linux-image
Code: Select all
$ sudo apt-get install linux-image-flavour
Code: Select all
apt-cache search linux-image
There seem to be 2 questions being asked in the original post.Post by rain13 »What should I write in my sources.list file?
Can you show the exact command you used and the output. Did you install the meta-package? Did you use apt or apt-get?rain13 wrote:Thanks.
Unfortunately installing kernel made apt think it should remove everything else. So then I ended up having only cli kernel that booted up, allowed me to login and use limited set of commands.
