CyberGhost and Debian 8 - no openresolve

#1 Post by fingers99 »

Hi all, trying to set up CyberGhost with OpenVPN on Debian 8. I'm following the instructions provided (although they don't specify 8) by the manufacturers. Not sure if a link is allowed, but a Google for "How to configure OpenVPN for Linux Debian (Terminal) " should snag it. Problem is, openresolv is a required package, For openresolve I get
Package openresolv is not available, but is referred to by another package.
This may mean that the package is missing, has been obsoleted, or
is only available from another source

E: Package 'openresolv' has no installation candidate
I've contacted the folk at CyberGhost, but if anyone has any ideas, I'd be grateful.

Thanks for reading!

Thanks. Seems like only yesterday I put Squeeze on. ;)

Any known issues with dist-upgrade?

OK, I upgraded to 9.1

john@silverslug:~$ lsb_release -a
No LSB modules are available.
Distributor ID: Debian
Description: Debian GNU/Linux 9.1 (n/a)
Release: 9.1
Codename: n/a

BUT

root@silverslug:/home/john# apt-get install openresolve
Reading package lists... Done
Building dependency tree
Reading state information... Done
N: Ignoring file '50unattended-upgrades.ucf-old' in directory '/etc/apt/apt.conf.d/' as it has an invalid filename extension
E: Unable to locate package openresolve

Google finds it, but as a patch (seems it was available as a back-port for squeeze, too!)
Downloaded it
So, how to apply it?
