I want to install Debian 9 on laptop that currently has Ubuntu 16.04 installed.
There are two partitions /home and /
When moving from one distro to another with the same sort of partitioning without an encrypted home directory, I allowed the installer to reformat the / partiation and kept /home, use the same usernames, and then changed file ownership if the user number changed.
I now have an encrypted home directory. What do I need to do to be able to backup after installing Debian? Do I need to preserve anything outside /home?
