Grub Bootloader Sound even though tune is turned off

#1 Post by Steyl »

So I just installed Debian 9 for visually impaired.
This was not entirely as intended and luckily I could disable the "Screen Reader" easily from the settings window.
However, I believe the Grub bootloader also got installed with a boot sound due to the choice for narrative installer.
I already checked: /etc/default/grub, but this has the sound line commented:

Code: Select all

# Uncomment to get a beep at grub start
#GRUB_INIT_TUNE="480 440 1"
Any ideas on how to solve this?

Some additional info;
  • The sound plays after the bios upon displaying Grub.
  • Uncommenting the above "GRUB_INIT_TUNE" does not alter the sound (I also ran update-grub)

Maybe you need to run update-grub?

Hi pylkko,

Thanks for your suggestion, however the line was already commented and after testing uncommenting I did run update-grub.
I did append this info to my post prior to your comment but maybe you missed it. Thanks anyway!

Since it is a fresh install I'm just going for another fresh install. I expect this will prove my solution
