[Solved] KDE - can no longer access NAS

#1 Post by user2635 »

Hi all, I just installed KDE (previously it was a default Gnome DE) and on Dolphin > Network >Samba shares and I get this message: https://snag.gy/gr89uc.jpg

I don't understand why it doesn't pick up my NAS, previously it worked fine under GNOME (Files) as you can see here (painted names in red for privacy): https://snag.gy/IHGyPT.jpg

Compare to what shows in Dolphin here: https://share.riseup.net/#epCd_RjzD261b1ZoxKyOXg (there's only Workgroup and nothing else)

Where do I start to get this fixed?

A couple of restarts and now it shows fine for some reason. It appears under 'Networks' and uses the webdav protocol.

I don't think I will mark it solved yet though, because I still expect it to show under smb:/ just like it did before in GNOME files.

UPDATE 31/8/17: doesn't look like I can open a file and edit directly from webdav (tried to open an .odt file and nothing happened), still need to somehow add the entry under samba shares...

Although I haven't solved the root issue (which is the NAS showing in samba shares entries), I've done a workaround for now.

On Dolphin, I can add to places a new entry with the path smb://(NAS name) and access it this way, I'll leave this post open if anyone has other ideas!

Check you write permissions, likel;y you only have read permissions.
I've set up my Debian server like :\http://bernaerts.dyndns.org/linux/75-de ... bdav-share
and have no problem, using Windows or MacOS to approach it.

Thanks Andre.

I seemed to have forgotten about this post but I found a solution in the end: https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Samba#KDE
