Re: Best way to manage wifi?
wicd is lighter than network-manager and an even better choice IMO is ceni (but it isn't in the Debian repos, though there are debs out there if you want to use it).

+1 for wicd.
though network manager if you'll be using vpn. i couldn't find a decent way to get them rolling with wicd.

Re: Best way to manage wifi?
there's no reason networkmanager wouldn't show up in tint2's systray.
there are, however, reasons why networkmanager wouldn't work fully without session management.
please clarify.
or, of course, wicd is good, too (not for mobile broadband though).

Wicd is in Old Stable, Stable, Testing and Unstable.anticapitalista wrote:wicd is lighter than network-manager and an even better choice IMO is ceni (but it isn't in the Debian repos, though there are debs out there if you want to use it).
For a desktop computer that never moves and only uses one Wifi connection the best method is to use wpa-supplicant directly by configuring /etc/network/interfaces. Look here. Wifi will load during boot. Do this once and forget it.

I was referring to ceni not being in the repos.Bulkley wrote:Wicd is in Old Stable, Stable, Testing and Unstable.anticapitalista wrote:wicd is lighter than network-manager and an even better choice IMO is ceni (but it isn't in the Debian repos, though there are debs out there if you want to use it).

2. Why is the Debian Handbook for Debian 9 still not released?
It is more than strange ... or all are now converting to Devuan or something...?
Thankyou

It looks up to date to me. Do you see something that's out of date?1. Why is debian wiki not updated?
Probably not yet written?2. Why is the Debian Handbook for Debian 9 still not released?

Re: Best way to manage wifi?
First thought: I was reading this topic, and the posts:
And that is the topic title,
"Best way to manage wifi?"
And it appears the OP solved the problem, but I thought there might be additional
related details.
Next thing I know, I am reading about the Debian wiki not being up to date, and the
Debian Handbook, I thought some how I accidentally clicked a different topic/thread, so I double check, and no oddly enough it is still the same thread, but different topic.
Somebody must have made a mistake, they should have started a new topic.
==============================================
Thank you
P.S. Complaining here on this forum is not the right place to suggest making any changes in the wiki, or problems with it.
Look at the "Front Page"https://wiki.debian.org/FrontPage
another, maybe he did not get enough donations or help.

topic when you decide you need to ask about something not related to the thread you are reading.
Thank you

Next time, please use some common sense, and start another topic, when you decide you want to talk about something else.Re: Best way to manage wifi?

Look at the "Front Page"https://wiki.debian.org/FrontPage

To find your way around: FindPage |WordIndex |[url=https://wiki.debian.org/TitleIndex] TitleIndex|RecentChanges |RandomPage
See ContactDebianWiki/Contact if you need to contact the people running this wiki. Wiki migration status.
You would have to ask the Author, how could we possibly know why he has not writtenmakh>Why is the Debian Handbook for Debian 9 still not released?

A little common sense, and search foo, and you could have answered both of these questions on your own. Please, next time do a little research first, and also start a newAbout this project

Re: Best way to manage wifi?
there's nothing to compile; it's a bash frontend to various utilities that most likely already exist in debian.jugoslavija wrote:FRISBEE FROM PUPPY LINUX IS THE BEST...
