[SOLVED] Problem: No sound in debian testing

Postby iambehnam » 2017-10-23 10:36

Hi friends.

Debian testing installed.
I installed debian before, didn't have any problem.
Now, just "espeakup" have sound in ttys (1-6)!
But no sound else. "vlc", "orca" and other programs don't have any sound in gui mode (tty7) and ttys.
I can move volume button in setting and indicator, but can't change notification ..., and "Hardware" page in sound setting is empty!
Code: Select all
lspci:
00:1b.0 Audio device: Intel Corporation 82801I (ICH9 Family) HD Audio Controller (rev 03)

aplay:
**** List of PLAYBACK Hardware Devices ****
card 0: Intel [HDA Intel], device 0: ALC888 Analog [ALC888 Analog]
  Subdevices: 0/1
  Subdevice #0: subdevice #0
card 0: Intel [HDA Intel], device 1: ALC888 Digital [ALC888 Digital]
  Subdevices: 1/1
  Subdevice #0: subdevice #0

/proc/asound/cards:
 0 [Intel          ]: HDA-Intel - HDA Intel
HDA Intel at 0xd8800000 irq 26

Linux:
4.13.0-1-amd64 #1 SMP Debian 4.13.4-2 (2017-10-15)

Excuse me, how can I do?

I found that:
Root has sound, but I (this user is logged in) don't have! programs have sound by "sudo".
I tried to add this user to group "audio" but it's already a member:
Code: Select all
The user `iambehnam' is already a member of `audio'.

and now ...?! How add sound to this user?

Also (in addition), I don't know how can find if is running, pulseaudio or alsa?! Are these useful to answer?

This output is fully like the output of my older distro that had sound in all.

Thanks a lot.

Re: Problem: No sound in debian testing

Postby iambehnam » 2017-10-24 11:06

Thanks anyway.

Solution:
Better Searching:
>> Searching for "troubleshoot sound" and "troubleshoot pulseaudio" and reading these results in ubuntu/arch/debian/... wikies.
These keywords were the best.
Need more attention to checking parameters in "pacmd" and etc, such as "muted", not only "volume"s.

Excuse me, I hope to be useful for others.
