Is 4.9.0-4-amd64 Kernel stable for Ryzen 1700?

#1 Post by unatrindade »

Hello Folks,

I'm new here. It's a plager to be part of this community
I'm running Debian 9 Stretch / Kernel 4.9.0-4-amd64 and my config is
AMD Ryzen 1700 overlocked to 3.8ghz
Motherboard ASUS B350F Gaming
16 gb ddr4 2933(overlocked)
Samsung ssd 840 evo

The question is: Do I need to install another kernel or should I keep the actual? When I boot up I see some acpi erros, don't know how to show the logs here. Also I can't read system's temperature. Considering that I am not so used to it yet, it'll be a question of time and work to get things done on Linux.

Thanks!

You might try setting the Ryzen clocking back to normal to see if acpi errors stop. The easiest way to try a new kernel is to use one from Liquorix. At the moment I'm running a 4.14.0-4.1-liquorix-amd64 without problems. How it would handle your games I don't know.
