No sound hdmi

#1 Post by cater »

Hi

I did a fresh installation of debian stretch. It had hdmi sound.
When I enable onboard sound on the bios, the hdmi sound stops working.

In summary, there is no hdmi sound, only sound from the onboard chipset.

Can we please see

Code: Select all

pacmd list-sinks
Please use code tags when pasting the output here and please also add some code tags to your output in the OP, I am having trouble reading it all.

What does this mean:
When you enable onboard sound on the bios, the hdmi sound stops working.
And why would you change anything if it was working before?

Can you not leave your "BIOS" settings as they were when the system was installed and the sound worked?

Thanks for the replica :)
My English is limited and I use google translator too.

I disabled the onboard sound and still no sound in hdmi. My motherboard is Asus M4A78LT-M LE, and it uses BIOS .

I've enabled onboard sound, because I want to use simutaneous sound with the sound of my motherboard chip, and the hdmi sound from my gtx750ti video card on my tv.
I know this is possible because I read this article.

note: The moment I write my /etc/pulse/default.pa file is the original (unmodified)

with onboard sound disabled (hdmi sound only)

I don't think that will work for you because `pacmd list-sinks` only has one output listed.

Hi Head_on_a_Stick

First of all, I want to thank you for your cooperation and your time.

I do not know if I understand you correctly, but ...

When you asked for this command, I reboot pc and on bios setup, I disabled the audio from my motherboard. So I only stayed with the hdmi cable connected to my tv. So :

$ pacmd list-sinks <=== with audio from motherboard disabled in bios setup

===============================

First of all I would like to ask a question (to avoid confusion) and try to get the solution, and then resolved to try to solve another question: Then the question:

Why do not I have sound on my tv using hdmi?
With the sound of the chip on my motherboard disabled. That's the question first!

The simultaneous sound (ie, using the sound chip on my motherboard + sound obtained via hdmi my video card), I see later ....

many thanks :)
