debian 9 stable + sid repo

#1 Post by faziopesce »

Hi, I'm on debian stretch stable, I'd install keepassxc that is only in "sid" repository. Can I add sid repository and use it like backports ? If yes: is this suggested for a stable distribution if I must only use one or two non-invasive tool from sid? Are packages from sid very instable?
Thank you.

Adding Sid to Stretch is not a good idea. Look at Don't break Debian >>> https://wiki.debian.org/DontBreakDebian

It is also available on Buster. See https://packages.debian.org/search?sear ... =keepassxc So You might be better to Backport it >>> https://backports.debian.org/

It is also available as a Flatpak or Snap.

Or you could download the Debian version from the website >>> https://keepassxc.org/download/

If a package is not available in backports. You can build/backport it yourself for personal use:

so which is the best native version to use on linux?
it's a jungle.
on archlinux, there's 4 different programs in the official repos alone:
keepass
keepassx
keepass2
keepassxc
looking for answers it would seem keepassxc has been the best-developed for a while?
and should thusly be the best choice (i don't require fancy features)?

Keepass2 or KeepassXC.

I personally prefer KeepassXC as it has been forked from KeepassX, which I currently use.
