end date of debian 9?
i have been interested in debian for a while now - so i am downloading debian 0.04 now. 1. what is the end date for 9? is it LTS for 5 years from release? and 2. is the install similar to ubuntu or mint for example? thank you so very much.

1. Have a look here: https://wiki.debian.org/DebianReleaseszenmonk wrote:i have been interested in debian for a while now - so i am downloading debian 0.04 now. 1. what is the end date for 9? is it LTS for 5 years from release? and 2. is the install similar to ubuntu or mint for example? thank you so very much.
2. The install is similar to Ubuntu
So let me expand on #2, while it is similar, the end result is that the software installed on 9 (Stable) is someone outdated when comparing to Ubu 18.04
Also keep in mind that there are times when the non-free ISO may be a better option. This may be mainly true when it comes to wireless hardware (as in my case).
Explore your options, educate yourself on your hardware and investigate what ISO may serve you better.
Cheers
Chris

I never installed ubutnut or mint, but I imagine there would be a lot more options as far as what desktop environment you want to run?zenmonk wrote:...

I think the install guide is really great, and when installing it is probably good to start with relese notes.
