Can you set another user name? Can you do it in the graphical user interface?
Thank you.

I really enjoyed the "master foo discourse", thanks.
Also the "usermod" manual is a good resource,
Code: Select all
man adduser

or
Code: Select all
man useradd
are also "enlightening".

Can you do it in the graphical user interface?

It might depend on which graphical user interface you are talking about,..
if the GUI menu includes that option, then you could. Back when I was using
the Mate Desktop , there were options in a menu to add users, it is not clear if the OP wants to change a existing users name, or add a new user, changing a existing users name, can get a little complicated, and I don't remember if the
Mate GUI, had that as a option or not.
On my OpenBox window manager, which is a GUI, there is no option to do this, it needs to be done via the command line.

You are welcome. ;)

In actuality it can be done just using vipw and vigr commands. You better log out the user you are editing.
