can't set Max Payload Size to 256

#1 Post by fred44nl »

in dmesg there is a line:
[ 0.282333] pci 0000:01:00.0: can't set Max Payload Size to 256; if necessary, use "pci=pcie_bus_safe" and report a bug
I have searched for a solution and it is not unknown.
but I can't find where to put a line "pci=pcie_bus_safe"

so, help is appreciated :D

In the kernel command line. How to depends on which boot loader is used (GRUB, LILO...).

Note the words "if necessary" in the message.

in short: if that's the only thing, just leave it.

+1 ! If the kernel error message is the only symptom.

however, it is frustrating to try to help someone only to find out they already received help somewhere else.
makes me feel like i'm wasting my time with you.
