Who will help me to compile Butt streaming software?

Postby Paulvos » 2019-01-29 13:01

Hello all,

I am an absolute beginner in Debian and managed to install it on a computer only because installing is very user friendly. I wanted a Debian computer to do my audio streaming, because Windows 10 kept interrupting my stream with continuous updetes.

At the moment I have build a working streaming computer running Debian 9.7 with KDE on x386 using the Butt 0.1.13 streaming program. I was Lucky to find a .DEB installation of Butt, so I managed the installation. The problem is that the present Butt version doesn't support Opus Codec, which I would like to use. Younger versions of Butt are only available in .TAR.GZ source.

I have tried to compile version 0.1.15 and 0.1.17 but I'm confronted with nummerous error messages when I run ./configure which I don't understand

Is there anyone here willing to help me with compilation, preferably by creating a .DEB file of 0.1.17 for me?

Thanks in advance, Paul

I use this guide to help me package stuff:

So you resisted the urge to make the OP the Butt of cheap jokes, eh?

he said "butt"

Anyway, if you post the error messages you're getting, we can interpret them. I've seen a zillion of those myself. Usually they mean you don't have the -dev package (the headers aka includes) for a certain library installed.

But my standard M.O. is to first see if someone else has already debianized the source code somewhere, like in a PPA or on the OBS, since I'm lazy. Strong Google-fu will help there.

Edit: Well, in this case, the search was very short, since the current butt release is in Buster. I'll see if I can backport it in my multimedia OBS repo. https://repology.org/metapackage/butt/versions
