ublock-origin on firefox-esr , issue

Postby cater » 2019-10-28 18:46

Hi all

I installed webext-ublock-origin on the updated debian buster

Code: Select all
apt policy webext-ublock-origin
webext-ublock-origin:
  Instalado: 1.18.4+dfsg-2
  Candidato: 1.18.4+dfsg-2
  Tabela de versão:
 *** 1.18.4+dfsg-2 500
        500 http://sft.if.usp.br/debian buster/main amd64 Packages
        100 /var/lib/dpkg/status

everything works correctly, but a few days ago, ublock no longer appears in the firefox bar or addon ...

I already reinstalled ublock but it didn't solve it.

I already purge firefox-esr and reinstalled firefox-esr and continued the same issue

Code: Select all
apt policy firefox-esr
firefox-esr:
  Instalado: 68.2.0esr-1~deb10u1
  Candidato: 68.2.0esr-1~deb10u1
  Tabela de versão:
 *** 68.2.0esr-1~deb10u1 500
        500 http://security.debian.org/debian-security buster/updates/main amd64 Packages
        100 /var/lib/dpkg/status
     60.8.0esr-1~deb10u1 500
        500 http://sft.if.usp.br/debian buster/main amd64 Packages

please any tips , thanks
cater

The firefox-esr package has just been updated to v68, you may have to wait a bit for the add-ons to catch up to the new standards.

It's for security. Addons are not immune from bugs.

For anyone still puzzling about this, I just followed the suggestion in the bug report:
This ls command will show the moz-extension+++ directory to delete. Note: It's not the other moz-extension directory with userContextId ID as part of the name.
(Note to the unwary  : Always make a copy of any directory or file which might be important before deleting it!)
Code: Select all
$ cd .mozilla/firefox/iuzictdh.default/storage/default && ls

So I stopped firefox-esr, deleted the offending item and now the webext-ublock-origin works as always.
For example, from within the directory listed above:
Code: Select all
$ rm -r moz-extension+++blahblahblahblah

Hello. You must update your system to Debian 10.2, because now ublock-origin is compatible with Firefox ESR68

I still haven't updated to Debian 10.2 yet but it's working just fine:
Code: Select all
$ cat /etc/debian_version && apt policy firefox-esr webext-ublock-origin
10.1
firefox-esr:
  Installed: 68.2.0esr-1~deb10u1
  Candidate: 68.2.0esr-1~deb10u1
  Version table:
 *** 68.2.0esr-1~deb10u1 500
        500 http://ftp.es.debian.org/debian buster/main amd64 Packages
        500 http://security.debian.org/debian-security buster/updates/main amd64 Packages
        100 /var/lib/dpkg/status
webext-ublock-origin:
  Installed: 1.22.2+dfsg-1~deb10u1
  Candidate: 1.22.2+dfsg-1~deb10u1
  Version table:
 *** 1.22.2+dfsg-1~deb10u1 500
        500 http://ftp.es.debian.org/debian buster/main amd64 Packages
        100 /var/lib/dpkg/status

But I will update anyway.
