C'mon, what's with this rash of 'what's the best' posts lately? There is no 'best' distro, there is no 'best' DE, etc., etc. What's 'best' is simply what's best for you. They all have strengths and weaknesses.

That said, Debian is the best.

We have all been there. Linux gives you mind boggling choice. That’s why we chose it. But, that choice can be paralyzing. So, you ask for advice. The problem is that such simple questions often (probably more so in the old days) lead to horrible fights or ranting threads that are a million posts long. Those of us who lived through those days are tired and cranky and still have nightmares. ;-) I suspect most people will say just try a few. Having said that, this is a Debian forum, so of course Debian is the one true Linux! ;-)

Unfortunately that choice is shrinking as the systemdOS takes root within Debian.

(It had to be said. I long for the days when Debian wasn't saddled by a web of interwoven, unnecessary, gratuitous coupling that often removes the modularity that Debian users enjoyed until 2014 when a seismic shift started to infect user freedoms.)
May the FORK be with you!

I have no dog in this fight but I take issue with that.

The one thing this forum does is work very well on a mobile, Any mobile not just android or apple. Try Ubuntu forum with links or lynx browsers and see the gobbledygook you get. I notice the active post is loaded with "Tug of war - community vs Mods". Every turn they try and get you to sign up by restricting your viewing rights. I've not been there for years and you reminded me why.

Not here. It just works and is quick and easy on any device and browser and in general the Mods do that. They have a thankless task just trying to keep the place running which they do and I for one thank them for it. Even if I don't always agree with them.

As to the topic and which is best... all depends on your priority's. What do you want from your distro?

IMHO a better question would be why everyone on this forum uses Debian as their (main) distro.

Maybe a separate sticky post would be helpful to prevent such future questions...
