adding folder to list view

Postby doggaroon » 2020-03-11 21:05

I am not sure of the correct terminology but what I would like to do is add a folder or partition to the view when going to File Open. There is the Other Locations name but I would also like to have my own locations specified to limit the amount of clicks. I have hunted but not found any thing. Thanks for any input.

It would help to reveal which Desktop Environment you are using as what you want is dependent on that.
I know in KDE Plasma you can add custom locations to the sidebar of Dolphin. Other DEs I have no idea.

I've done this in my Ubuntu and my Debian systems:

Code: Select all
cd .config/gtk-3.0

Then open the existing file called bookmarks with your choice of text editor. I use vi, so I type

Code: Select all
vi bookmarks

Add the link to the directory (folder), save, and do a restart or log off/login.

You should see the format for the existing ones and copy that. So to add /home/billy/temp and call it Temp, you

file;///fullpathname name_to_appear as in "file:///home/billy/temp Temp"
