[Solved] Truecrypt will not accept my password

#1 Post by HyperHacker »

I just switched from Xubuntu, and when I was there, I set up Truecrypt on an external hard drive. Before switching I moved everything onto that drive. I left it disconnected during the installation so it could not be damaged if anything went wrong. Now that I have Debian installed, I managed to set up Truecrypt, and it's telling me:
Enter password for '/dev/sde':
Incorrect password or not a TrueCrypt volume.
Everything is on that backup so this is a bit of a problem. :(

Are you running True-crypt as root?

Yes. Tried it both in a terminal emulator and single-user mode.

Well, this should've been obvious... I removed tc-installer and what it added, and installed the Ubuntu .deb from the Truecrypt website, and it works. I don't see why they'd be incompatible, but oh well.

Will manually installed Ubuntu .debs automatically update, though?
