dpkg-reconfigure keyboard-configuration

Postby woodsman » 2010-02-03 00:24

System: Debian Lenny/Squeeze mix in a virtual machine. KDE 3.5.x. Installed from DVD-1.

I tried running the command "dpkg-reconfigure keyboard-configuration" and received the following response:

Package `keyboard-configuration' is not installed and no info is available.

I ran "apt-cache search keyboard-configuration" to no avail. Also dpkg -l.

I'm guessing the keyboard-configuration component must be embedded in another package. Which one?

Thanks much!

That's odd. On my squeeze amd64 system.
Code: Select all
apt-cache policy keyboard-configuration

  Installed: 1.51
  Candidate: 1.51
  Version table:
 *** 1.51 0
        990 ftp://ftp.us.debian.org squeeze/main Packages
        500 ftp://ftp.us.debian.org sid/main Packages
        100 /var/lib/dpkg/status

The package isn't even architecture-specific: http://packages.debian.org/squeeze/keyb ... figuration

Heh. :) Thanks for the info. Chalk this off to my Debian newbieness. As I have been experimenting a lot lately with Debian Lenny/Squeeze, trying different things to learn more about the Debian design, I had disabled my Weekly Squeeze DVD in my sources.list. Apparently keyboard-configuration was not a part of Lenny and hence my empty search. After enabling the Weekly Squeeze DVD, I found the package and could install.

Thanks. :)
