annoying gedit

Postby wmn » 2010-04-08 08:48

Hello,

it seems that gedit is the standard editor in my debian lenny (stable). If i try to open a binary file (yes i want to open it binary) there is always a waring "gedit has not been able to detect the character coding...."

How to (easy for beginners) avoid this message if i want to read the raw data?

Thank you

If you want to look at the raw data of a binary file you would be better off using a hex editor like ghex.
