Nope...

I have tried them while trying to install Ubuntu 10.04 and it was turning the monitor off. I'm pretty sure of the same result with Debian but will try.

Not yet... I forgot  I will.

Any suggestions why the most new and advanced Squeeze so brutally crashes? :)

If those things have no effect, I am a bit out of ideas. I am however looking over kernel switches as I didn't get to that yesterday. One that looks like a feasible thing to try is:

Code: Select all

nobios
Here is the description:
[X86-32] disallow use of PCI BIOS, only direct
hardware access methods are allowed. Use this
if you experience crashes upon bootup and you
suspect they are caused by the BIOS.
Also, have you made any changes to the default memory settings in your BIOS (turned on shadowing, changed the memory timing, etc.)?

Well, I wasn't able to see much else that looked approperate but since you are the one with phisical access, maybe there is something that you would see that hits a cord with you. So here is a link to a good chunk of the availible kernel switches:

Thanks for the help, man!
I'll go back to Deb once I have more free time (too much work recently).
