I'm a beginner of Debian. I bought a new desktop with 6th core i7 processor. However, I did not manage to install the Intel graphics driver. I searched and tried a lot on Google but nothing works so far. The VGA is still in compatible mode and the GPU shows Gallium 0.4 on llvmpipe (LLVM 3.6, 128 bits). Have somebody managed to install the Intel Graphic driver successfully and make it work?
Thanks!

Problem on Intel Skylake CPU driver with kernel 4.5
Re: Problem on Intel Skylake CPU driver with kernel 4.5
On a fresh debian-jessie-system the intel-driver is installed by default. However for Skylake:
You need to install xserver-xorg-video-intel from backports.

Edit: Kernel 4.5 is default in debian stretch. So if you're using that you could try reinstalling the driver OR http://forums.debian.net/viewtopic.php?f=7&t=127868

Note that firmware-misc-nonfree is required for full functionality with Skylake cards.
They should still work without it though
Which versions are you running?

Ah, the first version with more binary blobs...Head_on_a_Stick wrote:Note that firmware-misc-nonfree is required for full functionality with Skylake cards.
