I declare another new drinking game. Slam down a shot every time someone posts about a broken Flash plugin downloader without searching these forums for any similar posts in the last few weeks.

Code: Select all

# apt-get remove --purge flashplugin-nonfree
# vrms

No non-free or contrib packages installed on debian! rms would be proud.
I'll drink to that! :wink:
DebianStable

Code: Select all

$ vrms

No non-free or contrib packages installed on debian! rms would be proud.

I also realized that since Debian has let the broken installer twist in the wind for a while, a user could use deb-multimedia's flashplayer-mozilla package, or flashplayer-chromium for PPAPI pepperflash, which actually contains and installs the plugin instead of downloading it from Adobe. They can do this because they don't care about getting any permission from Adobe to redistribute it, something that most distros can't get away with legally. They are in DMO's non-free section, and the beginner should be wary of installing other multimedia programs from there before backing up their system first. The Flash packages are safe to install from a technical standpoint, though.

My apologies... :oops: ... I was just trying to help, I hadn't the idea it had been reported before, I will search a topic before I post.

That's the spirit!

Just so you will know, PhoxFyre.

Whatever is written in these forums is not "reported" to Debian. Debian User Forums is where some Debian users come to try and get help from other Debian users. You happened to hit on a frequently asked question for which there are already many existing threads and thus posters metaphorically, roll their eyes and sigh.

You are fairly new here, have a look at these posts from forum admin. They may help you to understand some of the best ways to get help here.
