Postby Triloblob » 2017-04-26 21:33

i don't know if it's just me but i tried out debian with the gnome desktop and when i installed my graphics drivers and rebooted nothing came up so i had to reinstall debian.

does gnome even support graphics drivers on debian or is there something wrong with my hardware?

Probably there is nothing wrong with your hardware, but without any details
that are relevant, it is any bodies guess.
Also the version of Debian, is relevant.

Why don't the amd drivers work on gnome 3 debian
-----------------
https://wiki.debian.org/ATIProprietary
<!> This driver is incompatible with the GNOME desktop, as it does not support the EGL interface. It is recommended to use the free radeon driver instead.

Since you have not given any details, like what drivers specifically you are using,
just guessing, maybe the one you have is not compatible, ????
Maybe read some of the results in the above search string, and if none of that helps, post again, but include enough details so that people can help you.
Thank you

No problem asking, and it is not just you, a lot of people post here with
similar problems,...

I feel pretty dumb for making this. at the time I was pretty new to linux and I honestly had no idea what I was doing. fortunately I actually know what I'm doing now and you won't have to deal with extremely stupid post from me anymore. lesson learned RTFM
