Problem connecting with D-Link DWM-157 3G USB Modem

#1 Post by OMID-313 »

Hi everybody,

I want to connect to the internet using D-Link DWM-157 3G USB Modem, with Raspberry Pi 3 and Raspbian Jessie as the OS (latest version).
I've tried billions of methods without success!!

This is so far where I have gone:

Fortunately, the modem has been switched to modem mode, and lsusb confirms that. Also, it has registered 4 ttyUSB devices, ttyUSB0~3.
Now, the internet icon at the top-right corner of the desktop with two top-down arrows, is blinking, which probably means it's trying to connect (but no success!)

I've tried to connect with wvdial and also sakis3g.

The following is /etc/wvdial.conf :

Code: Select all

[Dialer Defaults]
Init1 = ATZ
Init2 = ATQ0 V1 E1 S0=0 &C1 &D2 +FCLASS=0
Init3 = AT+CGDCONT=1,"IP","mcinet"
Stupid Mode = 1
Modem Type = Analog Modem
Baud = 9600
New PPPD = yes
Modem = /dev/ttyUSB0
ISDN = 0
Phone = *99#
Username = { }
Password = { }
and also the following is /etc/sakis3g.conf :

Code: Select all

APN="mcinet"
Here are the output:

sudo wvdial

Code: Select all

....
....
Modem initialized.
Sending ATDT*99#
Waiting for carrier.
ATDT*99#
ERROR
OK
Invalid dial command.
Disconnecting at .....
and also:

sudo ./sakis3g --interactive

Code: Select all

......
Preparing Modem ...
Registering Network ...
Modem unable to register a network.
Also, here's a debug log of sakis3g :

Code: Select all

pi@raspberrypi:/usr/bin/modem3g $ sudo ./sakis3g connect --pppd --debug

Raspbian != Debian

Please either post your query over at https://www.raspbian.org/RaspbianForums or repeoduce this issue with an actual Debian system.
I've tried billions of methods without success!!
If you can reproduce this in Debian, please post all of the methods you have tried. A billion line list would probably neccesitate a pastebin link.

Thanks @Head_on_a_Stick for your reply.
Actually, Raspbian is a Debian-based OS, so it's not completely out of scope for this forum.
I'd be thankful if you help me diagnose this problem.

Yes, it is.

I will not offer any further assistance unless you reinstall a Debian system, I know *nothing* about Raspbian and I refuse to waste my time figuring out what the differences are.

There is some room in the forum banner, maybe there should be something like:

Debian !=[Ubuntu, Mint, Kali, Rasbian... n. 130]
