[SOLVED]Nvidia + Intel + upgrade kerner = screen not found

#1 Post by matx132 »

Hello,
I bought a new notebook without a system and wanted to install debian, everything went nicely.
Aside from one thing no wifi, read the information on the internet and i know need to upgrade to 4+ kernel, because 3+ does not have these drivers.

After upgrade to version 4.9.0-0.bpo.2-amd64 X11 did not work, I tried to install nvidia driver and add nouveau to blacklist but unfortunately still the same problem, can someone help me with this problem?

You should provide links to that information you found on the Internet, because they were sadly incomplete.

With a modern Optimus system like yours, the Nvidia GPU is not exposed to the system as the main video card, it's always going to be the Intel GPU. When you created the xorg.conf file telling the system to try and use the Nvidia card, it naturally did not work. When you eventually set up Bumblebee, you can have the Nvidia GPU do the 3D rendering and pass it back to the Intel for display.

How did you install the Nvidia driver? Did you follow the Debian wiki? Doing that will automatically blacklist the nouveau driver.

What you need to do is delete any xorg.conf file and upgrade the Intel video driver and Mesa stack from jessie-backports. Once that's working, you can then install Bumblebee completely from jessie-backports for the Nvidia 3D.

When i install few thinks all is ok :)

Nvidia is not a problem here, missing package:

Code: Select all

apt-get install --target-release jessie-backports xserver-xorg-video-intel libegl1-mesa libgl1-mesa-glx libgl1-mesa-dri

Did you get Bumblebee installed and working so you can use the Nvidia for 3D rendering?
