keyboard led not turning off when screen goes dark
keyboard led not turning off when screen goes dark
I have Debian 8 installed on a Dell XPS Laptop and config the screen to turn off after x mins. When the screen goes dark the keyboard stays lit. I have opensue also installed with the same config however, when the screen goes dark the keyboard also goes off. I can turn off the keyboard using the <Fn><F6> key. What am I missing with the Debian config

It could be fixed in a newer kernel...difficult to say, since we have no idea what hardware you have. (hint: inxi)

yeah, the 3.16 kernel is no good on hardware that new.
backporting to 4.x is the way.
kernel backporting: plenty of howtos and solved topics on these forums.

Yeah openSUSE has Kernel 4.4.62 and it works. However, I am a newbie to linux and will have to rely on developers to do a upgrade unless you can give me a link on a step by step on how to backport the latest kernel.
