When you have a question like this, the very first thing you should do is use a search engine. You could do it in your own language to make it easier for you to understand.

If you had searched with the keywords, Debian WiFi graphical scanner, you might have found.
https://packages.debian.org/stretch/linssid
It might be what you want.

That is assuming you want one for Stretch, you didn't mention which version of Debian you are using.

Most of us here expect you to put in some effort on your own first, instead of just asking every question you think of.

Jajaja ok mate... I don’t wanna use my own language because I want practice English and this community is more bigger than Spanish ...
I write my questions and search at same time ... I don’t write and expect to answer ...
My question is for people what knows what is better, stable etc... maybe I think normally debian hace one as “default”.
I don’t know if you understand me.
Just this I wanna know if debian have default WiFi tool graphical, like Windows ...
Just to know .. don’t say me now: “ if you want a tool like Windows install it ..”
Jajaja

Is not exactly this... I want scan + connect... Like wifi app in windows... You can see the networks, do double click and you can write your password and connect in GUI mode.

I don't know if you understand me ,.. jejeje I know is too difficult when i dont speak english very well... Sorry.

Regards !

Try

Code: Select all

nm-applet &
But this will only work if the file at /etc/network/interfaces is edited and the wlo1 stanza removed.

awachens, as I understand it you want a GUI that will graphically display Wifi. That does not include hard wired network connections. Am I right?

For Wifi wpagui might be what you are looking for. See here for how to set it up. If you need to see hard wired network connections you will need something else.

I didn't tell you to run it as root.

Kill it and try again:

Code: Select all

sudo pkill nm-applet
nm-applet &
Does a little wifi icon appear in the panel?

Which desktop are you using?

^ We need answers for these questions please.

The nm-applet program is included with NetworkManager and is supposed to start automatically and display an icon in the panel for you to click on.

Most desktops use it and it doesn't need to be setup so you must have a strange custom desktop (or something).

It's an area in the panel that is used to show icons such as for volume control, battery status and internet connections.

If you right-click on the panel you should be able to add things to it.

Try adding things until you see a little icon area show up in the panel, this is the "systray" and you need this to be able to use NetworkManager to search for networks.

EDIT: if XFCE is too tricky for you to configure, perhaps try Cinnamon instead — it's not as "light" as XFCE but it is a little more user-friendly. And it's gorgeous :)

ajaja thanks, i like the challenges xDDD

I like NM but... It doesn't show me networks... Only i can configure manually... Looking the SSID in other program.

Why NM don't add to panel ? As "systra" ?

It is the `nm-applet` program that provides the icon in the panel so try running that command again.

Are you sure that your panel has a systray?

The XFCE panel works just fine with NetworkManager and will display a GUI, this is exactly what Xubuntu use.
