synaptic error

Postby Makakke » 2018-04-27 14:27

Hi all,
i am fairly new to Debian Stretch 9.4 on my PC.
Soon after I started adding new packet sources I got the following (error) message in a pop-up window:

The repository 'http://deb.debian.org/debian stretch/updates Release' does not have a Release file.Updating from such a repository can't be done securely, and is therefore disabled by default.See apt-secure(8) manpage for repository creation and user configuration details.http://security.debian.org/dists/stretc ... /InRelease: The key(s) in the keyring /etc/apt/trusted.gpg are ignored as the file is not readable by user '_apt' executing apt-key.http://mirror.de.leaseweb.net/debian/di ... /InRelease: The key(s) in the keyring /etc/apt/trusted.gpg are ignored as the file is not readable by user '_apt' executing apt-key.The repository 'http://mirror.de.leaseweb.net/debian stretch/updates Release' does not have a Release file.Updating from such a repository can't be done securely, and is therefore disabled by default.See apt-secure(8) manpage for repository creation and user configuration details.http://mirror.de.leaseweb.net/debian/di ... elease.gpg: The key(s) in the keyring /etc/apt/trusted.gpg are ignored as the file is not readable by user '_apt' executing apt-key.

I would appreciate your help on this.
Best regards

Hello,

I'm having a problem with updates also, the error states "The list of software could not be downloaded". I do not know how it happened, but I can't fix it. I've tried fixing it and researching and reading but I'm just lost, so I'll try to get some help here.

Before I just re-load Debian from scratch can anyone help me get the updates to work as they did when the system was first installed? I do know how to edit the sources.list file, and I'm using an app called apper. If it's just a matter of editing that file I can do that, I just cannot figure out from the research I did what exactly is supposed to go in the file - or what else may be wrong. I don't understand the Linux system well enough to get any farther.

Thanks.

As an addendum - I tried the sources list from here -

https://wiki.debian.org/SourcesList

But still doesn't work

################

deb http://deb.debian.org/debian stretch main
deb-src http://deb.debian.org/debian stretch main

deb http://deb.debian.org/debian stretch-updates main
deb-src http://deb.debian.org/debian stretch-updates main

deb http://security.debian.org/debian-security/ stretch/updates main
deb-src http://security.debian.org/debian-security/ stretch/updates main

If I could just get the list back to the original (seems logical) then maybe I won't have to re-load Debian. But as it is I've not enough experience to get farther at this time.

Thanks.

Mike_Ham, your problem does not appear to be related.
please start a new thread and provide relevant information (commands and their output) and read some sort of introductory "how to post on these forums" sticky.

It is related because I was getting the same messages as the original poster - that's why I posted here. I was also having additional issues as well, which I added. Can you help me with my problem?

then look closer at the first reply to this thread, and non1975's answer.
and unless you provide original information, there isn't much more we can do.
