I have on the same PC a desktop installation with KDE and some virtual machines with minimal software installation and Xfce.
The KDE version is regularly updated, while the virtual machines didn't receive any update for several months. At the beginning I thought that the difference was due to the bigger number of packages installed with the KDE version, but on both of them I have Firefox-ESR which has been updated twice on KDE and never on the VMs. I checked with apt-get upgrade, but nothing new is detected, so I'm beginning to wonder whether there is something wrong with Synaptic configuration, but except for the sources.list which seems correct I don't know what I should check.
Is it possible that nothing was update for several months? If not any idea about how to investigate this issue?
BTW. This is the sources.list on one of the VMs:
