Removing or purging libcap-ng0

#1 Post by ckosloff »

I recently saw a bug report stating the libcap-ng0 caused segfault, and I have that problem precisely at boot, just as described in the report.
I don't need that package, but I cannot remove it because it will drag with it a ton of other packages, including apt, which will leave my system unusable, I wouldn't even be able to use a terminal to reinstall apt.
How can I solve this?

Too many things depend on it to remove, including dbus. You'll have to wait for a fixed version to be uploaded to the repo.
What version of Debian are you using? I'm guessing testing or unstable.

I am using testing, sorry for not mentioning it, checked the bug tracking system, it is a known issue, however there is no newer version that I could load, it is indeed a mess to uninstall.
