Flash installation in Chromium

Postby ckosloff » 2018-10-20 19:25

I installed flash in Firefox by donwloading the Linux file from Adobe, and copying it over to /user/lib/mozilla/plugins.
But I am unable to do same thing with Chromium because there is no plugins directory.
I attempted copying file to the root /usr/lib/chromium/but it did not work, file is there.
Thanks for any assistance.

If you want something that sets up both the older type of plugin and pepperflash automagically for Firefox and Chromium, you could install the MX Linux adobe-flashplugin package: http://mxrepo.com/mx/repo/pool/non-free ... ashplugin/

Disclosure: I'm the guy that ports it over from the Ubuntu partners' PPA and adapts it so it also works with Debian's Chromium.
The MX Linux repositories: Backports galore! If we don't have something, just ask and we'll try--we like challenges. New packages: Flightgear 2018.2.2, Pale Moon 28.2.0, wine-staging 3.20, GIMP 2.10.8, Cinnamon 3.8, Midori 6.0

MX 17 is Stretch-based (Debian 9), MX 15 is Jessie-based.

So go for the one that matches your Debian release.

Adobe has been releasing updates the second Tuesday of each month lately, and I try to get them into our repo ASAP.

Glad to hear that. Don't forget to check there for updates shortly after the second Tuesday of the month.

I'd also put them in a separate repo on the openSUSE Build service so they'd just be auto apt updates, but I don't have legal permission to do so from Adobe--only MX Linux does.
